Next Week

11 Months - August 2005

August 30 - September 5, 2005
(52 Weeks)

Well it's finally here.  I have officially reached my 52 week of life and hence my first birthday.

On Sunday, my birthday festivities kicked off with a backyard birthday party with our friends.  There was a birthday tree, pizza, cake, a ball pit, and bubbles.  I had a great time seeing everyone and I also got a lot of really nice gifts.  By the way, I really like carrot cake.

On Monday, the excitement continued when Daddy (and Mommy and Grandpa) took me to the Lincoln Park Zoo.  I enjoyed it so much that I even stayed up late creating a photo documentary of the day.

On Tuesday, Daddy went with Mommy and I to swim class.  He brought along the camera and took some video of me swimming.  Later Daddy and I got some one on one time with a nice walk.

On Wednesday (tomorrow) it is my official birthday!  I can't wait!  I get to see my friends earlier in the day but then I have to go to the doctor for my 12 month wellness visit in the afternoon.  What was Mommy thinking when she set up that appointment?!

Next Sunday will be my party with family.  It is amazing to have an entire birthday week for my very first birthday.  All I can say is that it is going to be hard to top this one next year!

August 23 - August 29, 2005
(51 Weeks)

Birthday season is upon us!  It's hard to believe that I will be celebrating my first birthday in one week!  This year went by so quickly.  I was looking at my earlier photos and can't believe that I am that same little girl!  On Saturday, I get to attend a birthday party for my friend Katie - she is also turning one.  On Sunday, I will be having MY first birthday party!  I can't wait!

I am becoming more and more independent.  I like to try to do things for myself and I can get quite upset when I am not able to.  I really enjoy trying to feed myself.  I've got finger food down pat but I go back and forth between playing with my spoon/fork and trying to actually use it to eat.

I went out to eat with Madison and Sammy (and the Mommies) yesterday and we all ate big girl/boy food!  I particularly enjoyed the macaroni and cheese and eating whatever was on Sammy's placemat.  It is sort of like the old adage "the grass is greener..."  well in this case the food is indeed tastier!

August 16 - August 22, 2005
(50 Weeks)

My latest accomplishment is that I have learned how to put things "in" rather than just dumping things out.  After a play session I can now help Mommy put the toys back into the bins.

I am becoming quite a speedy crawler!  I learned that I can go from one room, into a hallway, and then back into a totally different room!  Daddy put the gate up at the top of the stairs since I am not ready to tackle those yet.  Other baby proofing seems to be happening around the Pogany house - new toy bins have replaced magazine bins in our living room and we got a fun foam liner for the coffee table - it doesn't taste very good though.

Speaking of tasting good, I have been having some really great finger food combinations for lunch - carrots, avocado, and turkey or peas, kiwi, and macaroni and cheese!  YUM!  I am slowing moving away from just the jars and I like it!  I even had my very first raspberry pancake on Saturday - now all the Poganys get pancakes (even Wilson!).

(49 Weeks)

I finally did it!  I am crawling!  On Tuesday, August 2nd I crawled for the very first time!  It started out slowly but now I am really getting the hang of it and I am improving each day.

I am being very inquisitive.  I point to all sorts of things and want to know what they are.  I can recognize and point to items in my books such as bears, ducks, and doggies.  I also have recognizable words for these items too which I am using consistently.

This past weekend my uncle Jeffrey married Lauren and Mommy and Daddy went to New York for their wedding.  Grandma and Grandpa stayed with me and we had a great time.  I really missed Mommy the first night but things got easier the next couple of days.  I was really glad when she and Daddy came home.  It was nice spending a lot of one on one time with my grandparents since they live so far away and I don't see them that often.

Today I fed myself with a spoon for the first time.  Mommy held the yogurt as I dipped the spoon in and then put them both in my mouth.  I repeated the process and then decided it would be more fun to stick my entire hand into the yogurt rather than use the spoon.

New Foods this Week:  Pear with Pineapple

August 2 - August 8, 2005
(48 Weeks)

On Wednesday, July 27th I went to my very first Cubs game.  They played San Francisco and won in the 9th inning!  I had a great time.  I loved looking and pointing at the flags over the score board.  I also enjoyed people watching.  I had my first taste of cotton candy (compliments of Mommy) and chocolate malted (compliments of Grandpa).  Mmmmm...they were both real tasty!  I got to ride on the El train and even fell asleep on the way home like some of the regulars.  Mommy and Daddy said that I could go to another game later this summer - I can't wait!

I turned 11 months on Sunday.  It's hard to believe that I will be one year old in one month!

I keep pointing at things that I want - food, drinks, toys, etc. and if you don't understand the first time I tend to back up my point with a really loud "HEY!" - just to help you refocus.
