Next Week

13 Months - October 2005

October 25 - October 31, 2005
(1 year, 8 weeks)

Monday was a big day for me - I stood by myself for a few seconds - all on my own.  I have been pulling myself up to a stand while holding onto Mommy for sometime but on Monday when I did it I started to giggle.  I  then let go with my left hand and giggled harder.  Next, I let go with my right hand, realized I stood on  my own and then collapsed into a screeching-giggling pile.  Repeat about 20 times.  I was so proud of my accomplishment and so was Mommy.  We kept laughing over and over.

I got to play in the leaves a few times this weekend.  I wasn't sure what to make of their crunchiness at first but eventually had a lot of fun picking them up and handing them to Mommy and Daddy.

Happy Halloween!

"Hey!"

October 18 - October 24, 2005
(1 year, 7 weeks)

Here I am on the table that Daddy made to fit behind the chair in my room.  How did I get on the table you might be wondering.  Well, simple I just crawled right on up.  It has become part of my daily ritual.  I crawl on the table, kiss all my animals (Lady the dog and Michigan Bear get extra kisses), dive head first into the seat of the chair and then I laugh and repeat.  All this occurs under Mommy's supervision of course.  Last week I pulled Kleenex out of the box in addition to the tasks listed above but as you might have guessed, the box is now empty.

I got to see my cousin Lincoln this weekend.  He is getting to be such a big boy.  He is 4 months old now and weighs just two pounds less than I did at 12!  He is so cute - for a boy who is my cousin anyway.  He smiles a lot.  I can't wait for him to get a little bigger so we can play together.

I go in for my official weigh in this week.  Will I have to stay on the high fat diet?  Will I be able to sit forward facing in the car seat?  These questions answered and more on As the Scales Balance.

New Documentary Entry: At the Pumpkin Farm

Latest Word - Roaring like a lion (sort of a word).
The funny part is that the roar is no louder than a whisper.

October 11 - October 17, 2005
(1 year, 6 weeks)

On Thursday, I decided I was ready to climb up the stairs and proceeded to do so like I've done it all my life.  Lately I am always looking for an opportunity to climb the stairs, or on top of the chair in my room, or even over Wilson.  It seems like I am making physical leaps and bounds quite expediently.

Yesterday I went to the pumpkin farm with my friends Aidan, Madison, and Sammy.  It was so much fun!  I even picked out my own pumpkin!

I got my flu shot yesterday too.  It wasn't very fun but I was somewhat brave and recovered quickly from the poke.  I get to go back next week for my weigh in.  Mommy weighed herself and then again holding me at Grandpa's this morning.  According to his scale I weigh exactly 19 lbs. (with clothes on).  We'll see the doctor's scale has to say.

"I am one among many pumpkins."

October 4 - October 10, 2005
(1 year, 5 weeks)

I have become a master puller upper.  I pull myself up to a standing position on anything I can get my hands on - window sills, tables, furniture, Mommy, etc.  Everyday I get faster and more stable.  I am even able to sit back down.  I greet Mommy most mornings standing in my crib which I did for the very first time on Thursday, September 29.

I do not like for my toes and often the tops of my feet to touch the floor while I am crawling so I curl my toes up.  Mommy wishes that I could explain the reasoning behind this phenomenon to her.  I could share but I think that I'll keep her guessing...

I fed myself breakfast with a spoon today.  Mommy would scoop out oatmeal with cinnamon and grated apple onto my spoon, hand it to me, and I would put the spoon into my mouth.  I hardly made a mess at all.
